Terms of Service & Refund Policy
Last updated: September 25, 2026
1. What YearAlert is
YearAlert is a small piece of software (a WordPress plugin and a universal JavaScript snippet) that keeps the copyright year at the bottom of a website current. It runs entirely inside your own website in your visitors’ browsers. It does not create an account, does not collect data, and does not communicate with our servers.
2. The purchase
YearAlert (“Do it yourself” at checkout) is a one-time purchase. It is not a subscription; there is nothing to renew. What the purchase includes:
- the YearAlert WordPress plugin, as a zip file you upload in wp-admin;
- the universal JavaScript snippet, for a site on any other platform;
- the illustrated install guide and the install video;
- email support, and the refund promise in section 3.
Who you pay. Checkout is handled by Paddle — Paddle.com Inc. for buyers in the United States, Paddle.com (Canada) Ltd in Canada, and Paddle.com Market Limited (company number 8172165, 30 Old Bailey, London EC4M 7AU, United Kingdom) elsewhere. Paddle is our authorised reseller and the Merchant of Record for the transaction: you buy the product from Paddle, Paddle calculates and collects any sales tax or VAT and issues your invoice, and we supply the product to you under these terms. Paddle’s own Buyer Terms apply to the payment itself. On your card statement the charge comes from Paddle and carries the name YEARALERT.
3. Refund policy
If YearAlert doesn’t work on your site, you get your money back. Email us within 30 days of purchase with your site URL and we will either get it working or refund the full amount — whichever you prefer. That covers the code not running on your platform, not finding the copyright year on your site, changing the wrong thing, or working at first and then stopping.
You download the files immediately, so we don’t refund a purchase you simply changed your mind about after downloading — but if something went wrong, tell us what, and the paragraph above applies. Refunds are issued through Paddle, as Merchant of Record, to your original payment method — write to us and we will file it, or contact Paddle directly; both routes end in the same place. Paddle’s own refund policy applies in addition to the promise above, never instead of it. Nothing here limits any statutory rights you have as a consumer, including the EU right of withdrawal where it applies.
4. License
The WordPress plugin is free software under GPL-2.0-or-later. That licence — including your right to use, modify and redistribute the plugin — is granted by the licence itself and nothing in these terms takes any of it away.
The universal JavaScript snippet may be used on any website you own or manage, with no limit on the number of sites. The install guide, its screenshots and the install video are ours: they come with your purchase for your own use, and are not for republishing or resale.
5. Honest-claims note
We say this on the sales page and repeat it here: the copyright year is not a search-ranking factor. YearAlert improves how current and trustworthy your site looks to human visitors; we make no SEO claims.
6. Warranty & liability
The software is designed never to break the host page (it is wrapped so it cannot throw errors into your site) and to change only the copyright year at the bottom of the page. Beyond the guarantees stated here, the software is provided “as is”; to the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
7. Support
Email support is included with every purchase. If YearAlert isn’t working on your site, contact us with your site URL and we’ll get it working or refund you.
8. Contact & seller identity
YearAlert is a trading name used by Mikhail Strizhkov, an independent software developer and sole proprietor based in Mexico City, Mexico. Support, refund requests and anything else: [email protected]. Your invoice is issued at checkout by Paddle as Merchant of Record — see section 2.
